I am so excited to be here in Week 2 with Maria from Vitalia Nutrition to talk more about clear and glowing skin! One of the number one concerns I hear from brides and future photo clients of all kinds really, is how clear their skin is going to be for their photoshoot! Whether its your wedding, boudoir, or family session its always at the forefront of our minds, granted photoshop can do wonders but no one wants to FEEL like they have a large red friend chillin on their chin while trying to #seayourselffree.
We all know when there is a lot of anticipation for an event… that’s just asking for your skin to misbehave. How can my clients prepare for their event and take the BEST care of their skin ?
As a nutritionist and wellness expert for Brides to be no one more than me knows how important it is for you to have the most clear and glowing skin for your wedding day and/or for your boudoir session. That’s why I want to share with you my top 5 tips for achieving that GLOW in less than 12 days!
#1: BRIDAL ELIXIR
You will always find me raving about THE BRIDAL ELIXIR, because I know for a fact that this is one of the most effective ways to achieve the most radiant skin ever!! All you have to do is to drink it everyday first thing in the morning on an empty stomach. To make it just mix the following ingredients together:
- 1 cup of war water
- ½ lemon [squeezed]
- 1 tsp. Organic raw honey
- 2 Tbsp. organic apple cider vinegar with mother [the little settlement at the end of the bottle]
Maria, I love this elixir ! I have heard that it can do wonders for many things ! What would you say to the ladies out there who can’t seem to get past the smell of apple cider vinegar ?
LOL I hear ya’, well if you definitely can’t stand the smell then I will suggest to add either fresh ginger [like an inch] or ½ tsp organic turmeric instead of the apple cider!
#2: DRINK WATER
I also will never get tired of emphasizing how important it is to drink water [ yasss at least 2L / day]. Water asides of improving digestion it will also help your body detoxify more efficiently and that will lead to a more clear and younger looking skin, with the added bonus of a lighter-feeling sensation! Worth it right??
I know I don’t drink enough water throughout the day as I am sure most of us can contest too as well. What are some of your favorite tips or products to remind yourself to keep drinking , or to plan ahead so that you know you have water with you ?
There are 2 ways to remind yourself of drinking water: one is to buy yourself a super cute bottle that you love and have it next to you while you work, drive, study… If you see it and it’s attractive then you’ll be drinking more!
Two every hour set up a reminder in your phone to drink water! This works great because after doing it for a bit you will start doing it unconsciously!
I know for a fact that a lot of women don’t drink plain water because they find it boring and tasteless. That’s why I have put together a guide to PIMP your water with tons of flavour and zero calories!! Now you have NO excuses to give your body the hydration it needs! You can DOWNLOAD it for free here >> http://bit.ly/2HsyR43
#3: TAKE YOUR COLLAGEN
Ok so collagen is another important part of my morning routine! Why? Because collagen is a protein that nourishes your skin helping reduce the appearance of fine lines and stretch marks at the same time that it gives your skin more elasticity! Collagen also makes hair and nails stronger and healthier! To know which collagen to buy check out my Insta Story Here
I have heard this one before! However I have also heard that taking a collagen supplement can throw off your body’s natural ability to produce collagen. Fact or fiction ? Can you shed some more light on that one for us?
FICTION!! Sadly after age 25 our collagen production starts decreasing! That’s why it is so nice to give it a boost!
#4: EAT FOODS FOR GLOWING SKIN
The top 10 best foods [in my opinion] to eat to achieve a glowing skin are: salmon, broccoli, cucumber, spinach, lemon, tomato, grapefruit, pineapple, papaya, blueberries, walnuts, avocado and eggs.
All you need to do is add all this delicious food into your meals! Check out some recipes wit these foods Here
All of these foods sound amazing , I can’t wait to check out these recipes for myself ….yummie !
#5: AVOID FOODS THAT SABOTAGE YOUR SKIN
Ok so there’s no secret that junk and processed food isn’t the best for you because of their high sugar, sodium and unhealthy fat content. So one of the most important steps for achieving glowing skin in no time, is by avoiding all these type foods! Yes I am talking about fries, doughnuts, chips, pop, ice cream, fast chain hamburgers, hot dogs and so on…. Instead replace those with the type of foot that is going to nourish not only your skin, but the rest of your body! Yes, like the ones mentioned above!
I think we do all know this last one as much as we dont want to admit. What are some tips that you use to avoid these types of food ? It can be especially hard when there is a lot of stress or anticipation , or you know ….that lady time . There must be some secrets to avoiding the pitfalls and staying on the road to clearer glowing skin 🙂
Mindful eating is the key!! By eating mindfully you are going to slowly realize that junk food doesn’t taste as good as you think nor it makes you feel good! On the contrary, when you make an effort to eat healthier, you will realize how good your body feels and how good it makes you feel!
Also I know we are humans, and we deserve to treat ourselves once in a while [we are not robots], in this case I will suggest portion control and smart choosing. What do I mean with this? Well if you are completely craving a burger for example, then have one! But here is the thing… you are craving a burger, not the fries, milkshake and pop that sometimes come with it. So stick to you craving, the burger, and avoid the rest! Order some plain water and voila!
We have some exciting things planned for the next 5 weeks BUT THE LAST WEEK WILL BE QUESTIONS FROM YOU . If you have any questions for Maria about your health and nutrition or if you have any questions for me about your wedding or boudoir photography email us at hello@seaweedanddiamonds.com for your chance to have them answered during week 6’s Blog post .
